Kellan is 2 months Old!

I thought I'd write a bit since it's been a really long time! Kellan is 2 months old now and just recently realized he had a tounge, which he sticks out often and tries tasting toys and his hands. A few weeks ago he started grabbing and holding onto things, and he's smiling and cooing often. He can hold his head up fairly well and loves to look at the TV and the pictures in books. He's incredible! I haven't had much sleep, even though he's started sleeping for 5-6 hours straight! I'm always worried he's not breathing, so I check on him all the time. I definately do miss sleep.

And a synopsis of his birth...

It was Sept. 20th when I started having non-painful contractions. We were at Marcy St. house watching tv. I'd eaten pineapple, taken a bath, went for a walk, and done alot of nipple twisting! :-) It worked. We went to Lemon Road and went to bed around 9pm. I woke up at 11pm with more painful contractions. I got out of bed and walked through the yard. It was misty and clear with stars and a bright moon. Then I layed in bed until the contractions came 5 mintues apart and woke everyone up. They became much more painful and at 3am, me, Drew, mom, Lindsay, Hannah and Roy went to the hospital. Chelsea came too. The girl at the front desk was really bitchy and they put me in a wheelchair. I was only 2 cm dialated that night and I couldn't believe it! I wanted it to be over quickly. I was awake all night with mom and Drew at my side the entire time. I hated the shower, hated walking and really only wanted to be in my bed. At about 8am I asked for painkillers. At about 11am I got an epidural and felt much better...although I wasn't planning on it originally. It was so exhausting, the epidural helped relax me and I didn't have trouble pushing too much. At 3:30pm, Dr. Dickason helped pull him out with a Vacuum extractor! And he was in my arms as cute as can be. He was, and is, the most beautiful little person I've ever seen.

22 Weeks and Growing!

I'm happy to report that Kellan is 22 weeks old and very healthy! Oh, and he's a boy. :-) Our doctor said he weighs almost a pound or so. He seems pretty hungry though, as I'm craving food almost all day long. And it's not really anything in particular...just FOOD. Eating too much makes me nauseous, car rides make me nauseous...and sometimes Drew makes me nauseous...whahaha..just kidding. But otherwise I feel pretty energetic. Except for the times I don't - when I've only slept for a few hours at night.
My first mother's day was so much fun! We had waffles and strawberries at Mom and Roy's, I fell asleep while she showed me her slide-show of Morocco, Drew sang, Hannah, Drew and I went to Target and did our registry. Wow, having a scanner in your hand is way too much fun. We expect people get us everything we want, including the vacuum Drew added! Haha.
I'm done typing, but will write soon.

Approaching 14 Weeks!

Lately Drew and I have been EXTREMELY busy - him finshing his 3rd Quarter of college and me working with eccentric Real Estate clients who recite movie scenes for hours on the phone with no signs of slowing down and with so much enthusiasm that I am trapped into listening. I have heard an entire episode of Sponge Bob Square Pants, the movie Airline, documentaries regarding the making of Monty Python and so on. But at least she bought a house! YAY!

Lately I've been feeling really tired - probably because I wake up 18 times a night to go to the bathroom and then lay there listening to Drew and Brandi (our dog) dream. Sometimes Drew talks to me - but mostly in gibberish such as "I feel like I am impersonating your sister". To which I say..."Why's that?" and which he responds "Because I'm wearing her clothes (giggles)". So I check as he goes back into deep sleep, and confirm he's wearing his flannel pajamas. Hahahahha....oh it's entertaining.

So last Tuesday I had a little scare (symptoms I wasn't expecting) and we went to the Doctor's for an Ultrasound. The baby was swimming around like crazy and it's heart was beating...so they said we were just fine! Thank goodness. Here's a picture at 12 weeks 6 days: Baby Pictures - March 9

Sleepless Nights

Well I've been learning a lot about hormone changes...as apparently I can't sleep! Since about the beginning of February, I haven't had a full night sleep and wake up about 3 or 4 times a night. Sometimes I just lay there wide awake. Then at 5am I lay in bed until Drew's alarm goes off and he starts singing in my ear, some song with ridiculous lyrics that he makes up as he goes. He goes about with so much energy...talking laughing as he makes his coffee...and I sit there looking like I've been around the world and back in 8 hours. Sigh. "They've" told me it's normal. But I don't want it to be normal!!! Sigh.

Another thing I'm going to try is my Grandma's 1980's Cross Country Ski machine...that had never been opened until 2 nights ago. I don't have the electric blue spandex outfit with pink belt and perm to go with it, but it should be a totally rad workout. Since I'm so sleepy, I get on it for maybe 2 minutes then lay on the couch.

Hmmm...nothing much else to report. Yawn. Friday is our 11 week appointment though! The little guy or gal is growing their teeth buds already and developing creases in their arms and legs (elbows and knees)!

Sianara for now...

Not Myself

Well, the past week has been interesting. I all of a sudden have skin problems on my cheek...and I never have my entire life. Apparently this is normal?

This weekend was Valentines day & Drew and I tried to have fun, even though I was throwing up at the Olympia Shell Station and lying reclined in the car while Drew ran around to stores. He bought a fun book for the baby - a comic book of Wizard of Oz. Pretty cool. (I think it was for him just as much as the baby! Haha, he's so cute).

Hmm..what else. Oh, I keep feeling a nagging feeling and cramps in my lower abdomen. Am assuming that is the baby-stuff going on. I can't wait until I actually look pregnant. Then I might actually believe something is in there. Right now it's just been feeling not myself.

Signing off for now!

Food Food Food

I was going to mention - food is either my enemy or my best friend these days. And strange cravings came early. Drew's first Grocery run consisted of Grapefruit,Popscicles and Club Soda - at 9 pm at night! Haha.

I've been craving:
Meat (Tuna, Salmon, Oysters)
Yogurt and Fruit
Potatoes of any kind

I am disgusted by the thought of:
Broccoli
Lettuce
Cookies or processed sugary things

I haven't actually thrown up yet, but I feel so nauseus sometimes it's like being on a tiny sailboat in a storm. Ugh. A tiny bit of ginger in Club Soda helps though.

Oh, and for those of you wondering if I'm "showing" yet. Not really. Sometimes I think I am...but it's just my meal sitting there showing off. It's still only the size of a raspberry...or large pea...I think. I think of it more like a large kidney bean.

But the cool thing is that this week, you can actually hear it's little heartbeat! Even for being so tiny! Pretty cool.

(Week 9 and 1 Day)

9 Weeks and 1 day Today - Our First Post!

I decided it'd be fun to write a blog, so everyone knows how we're doing! I'll do a little recap of the past month or so...

Around the beginning of January, Drew noticed I was acting crazier than usual and became extremely melodramatic. I was even surprised at myself! Haha. Anyway, so one night, after watching Sherlock Holmes in the Theatre, I had the notion to make sure I wasn't pregnant...so that night, January 8th, we found out that I WAS!

I remember Drew's face. He looked like I must've looked when he proposed to me - shocked yet really happy. :-) Immediately afterwards, we both called a few friends and family to tell them the news.

Shortly after that we picked our Doctor after reading a bunch of reviews on MedicalGrades.com. Out of 10, I picked Dr. Laurel Dickason out of Olympia's Capital Medical Center. It turns out...she was my mom's doctor when Mom had ovarian cysts a while back!!! And Mom LOVED her. So that was exciting!

We had our first Ultrasound on January 29th and they deduced that the baby was 7 weeks 2 days old. With a 40 week pregnancy, that means that I'm due around September 15th!

That also means, I'm 9 weeks 1 day today. Click this link to see a 3-D view of the baby. 3-D 9 Weeks Pregnant
